Understanding PM Surya Ghar Subsidy Slabs
Who qualifies, how much you can receive, and the six steps from portal registration to the subsidy reaching your bank account.

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is the central government scheme that supports rooftop solar for homes. For eligible households, part of the system cost is covered by a subsidy credited to your bank account after commissioning.
Who is eligible
- You own the house where the system will be installed.
- The electricity connection is in your name.
- The house has not received another solar subsidy.
Final eligibility is confirmed on the national portal and by the DISCOM during the feasibility check.
How much you can receive

| 2 kW | ₹60,000 |
| 3 kW or larger | ₹78,000 |
The subsidy is capped at ₹78,000. A larger system still receives ₹78,000; the balance can be paid upfront or through EMI.
The six steps
- Register on the PM Surya Ghar portal with your electricity consumer number.
- The DISCOM checks technical feasibility for your connection.
- The system is installed after feasibility approval.
- Net meter application, DISCOM inspection and net meter installation.
- The DISCOM issues the commissioning certificate on the portal.
- You submit bank details on the portal and the subsidy is credited to your account.
Documents to keep ready
- Aadhaar card
- Latest electricity bill
- Property ownership proof
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque
- Passport-size photograph
- Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
